About FI

Journalism & Content. MarCom Strategy. Community Building.

I started writing and publishing before I was old enough to vote—weighing in on debates about feminism, forming online friendships, and contributing to national conversations about culture and politics. Over the last two decades, I’ve used writing and communications to foster connection, build community, and elevate stories that the mainstream media too often omits, misunderstands, or misrepresents. When told with care and authenticity, these stories aren’t niche—they’re universally resonant.

I’m an award-winning writer, editor, and marketing and communications strategist whose work centers on destigmatizing complex health conditions, highlighting peer support, and exploring the intersections of disability and climate justice. From investigative journalism features to cross-channel digital marketing campaigns, I use the power of communications to amplify innovative ideas and movements, and bring people together.

My work has appeared in The New York Times, The Nation, NPR, Forbes, The Atlantic, SELF, The Washington Post, BBC, MSNBC, GLAAD, The Los Angeles Times, and many other outlets. I’ve spoken at institutions including the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, USC Annenberg’s Center for Health Journalism, the New York Public Library, the World Health Organization, the White House COVID-19 Equity Task Force, and the CDC, where I served as a subject matter expert.

Currently, I’m the Senior Manager of Content Marketing at NOCD, the largest treatment provider for people with OCD. Previously, I founded and led Body Politic, a patient-led organization at the forefront of the Long COVID advocacy movement, and I’m the editor of The Long COVID Survival Guide, a Foreword INDIES Gold Award winner in Health.

I grew up in New York City and Fire Island, studied history and journalism at Yale, and live in Los Angeles. I spend my spare time organizing political study groups, testing trail gear for REI, and cooking for my friends. For more of my adventures and musings, check out my newsletter, safety pin.
